DJI M300 & M350 Comparison
DJI M350 is the latest model of DJI Matrice Series. Its an upgrade from the pervious M300 version. In this article we have listed the major upgrades between the M300 and M350.
Key Points:
The main upgrades are the enhanced IP rating, updated battery system, and several additional features.
Matrice 350RTK is now using the DJI RC Plus controller.
There are many similarities of features shared between DJI M350 RTK and DJI M300 RTK, including multi-payload support for mission versatility.
1. IP Rating upgrade
The DJI M350 RTK has an expanded usage range compared to the M300 RTK. The M300 RTK is rated IP45, while the M350 RTK has improved IP55 resistance. This means the M350 RTK offers better protection against solid objects. However, both platforms have the same level of water resistance. It can withstand rain, but it is not completely waterproof. In terms of operating range, both the M350 RTK and M300 RTK can operate in temperatures from -20°C to 50°C. It also has a wind speed of 12m/s.
2. rc plus Controller
Since its launch, the DJI M350 RTK has been equipped with the Smart Controller DJI RC Plus, an upgraded RC compared to the Smart Controller Enterprise of the M300 RTK. However, a firmware update has made the RC Plus compatible with his M300 RTK, though M300 RTK users will need to purchase the controller separately. First introduced in the DJI M30 series, RC Plus is arguably a feature upgrade over the Smart Controller Enterprise, including extended battery life, a larger screen, and an IP rating.
3. Upgraded Battery System
The DJI M350 features an all-new battery system. Intelligent Flight Battery TB65. Both drones offer up to 55 minutes (without payload), although the maximum flight time is not increased. The M350 RTK's TB65 battery lasts up to 400 cycles, while the M300 RTK's TB60 battery life is 200 cycles. This makes the TB65 an efficient battery that can handle more cycles, allowing you to use it twice as often as the TB60 before you need to consider replacing it.
The M350 RTK also features the new TB65 Intelligent Battery Station which includes;
8 x TB65 Battery Ports
4 x WB37 Battery Ports
1x USB-C Maintenance Port
1 x USB-C Charging Port
1 x USB-A Charging Port
The intelligent battery station can simultaneously charge 2 aircraft batteries, 1 RC battery (WB37) and 1 RC Plus. Battery status information will be displayed when the station is connected to RC Plus. This new battery station also offers multiple charging modes.
Standard mode (recommended for general users): Each pair charges to 100% (self-discharge) at a time. 60 minutes from 0℃ to 100℃
Ready-to-Fly mode (recommended for first responders): Each pair is charged in turn to 90% and held at 90%. 30 minutes from 20:00 to 90:00
Storage modes (recommended for long-term storage): Each pair is charged and held at 50D.
It's worth noting that TB65 batteries are available for the DJI M300 RTK. The aircraft first needs a firmware update. Similarly, his TB60 battery in the M300 RTK can be used in his M350 RTK. But don't confuse the battery during flight. What's more, the new BS65 battery station is compatible with TB60 batteries, and the new BS65 batteries can also be charged in the BS60 battery station. Update your TB60 Battery and BS60 Battery Station to the latest firmware.
4. New Arm Lock Indicator
One of the biggest security improvements in the DJI M350 RTK is the addition of an arm lock indicator. The drone's arm lock detection feature helps avoid the danger of flying with the arm sleeve unlocked. In contrast, the M300 RTK does not have this feature. The armlock feature may not seem like a big advancement, but it's an important aspect for improving flight safety and a welcome upgrade.
5. Enhanced FPV Camera
The DJI M350 RTK and DJI M300 RTK have a built-in FPV camera, while the Matrice M350 RTK lists a night vision FPV camera. This night vision FPV camera provides a clear view of the environment and obstacles during night flight, enhancing flight safety. The resolution of the M350 RTK's FPV camera has also been increased, resulting in better image clarity.
